Sharon & Bob's Wedding Vows 8/28/05

Celebrant:

We gather today to celebrate the marriage of Sharon and Bob.  After living together for the past six years, they have finally decided to stop living in sin.

THE VOWS

Celebrant:

As you speak your vows, recognize those things that truly make a marriage strong – living everyday life together with grace and patience.

These promises you make to each other are sincere and heartfelt and should not be forgotten, no matter how old and senile you shall become.

Now, I, an Ordained Minister through the Universal Life Church, am duly authorized to solemnize this marriage according to the laws of the State of Arizona.

Sharon & Bob, please face one another to make your vows.  (and try to keep a straight face, please)

Sharon:

Do you, Sharon, take Bob to be your husband, best friend -  lover and handyman -   to love, honor and amuse, from this day forward,   for better, for worse,  for richer, for poorer,   in sawdust and in health……Do you promise to be faithful, and despite his snoring,    promise to love and stand by him all the days of your life?

 Bob:

Do you, Bob, take Sharon   to be your wife,  best friend, lover and skinny dipping partner……….

To love, honor and amuse,     from this day forward,   for better, for worse,       for richer, for poorer,       in sickness and in health,      as long as Sharon saves room for you among her packratting?

THE RING CEREMONY

Bob:

Sharon, this wedding band I give you has no beginning and no end. It symbolizes my unending love for you.

Sharon:   Bob, this wedding band I give you has no beginning and no end. It symbolizes my unending love for you.

DECLARATION OF MARRIAGE

Celebrant:

Sharon & Bob have declared before us that they will live together in marriage. They have made special promises to each other . They have symbolized their union by taking vows and exchanging rings.  Therefore I now declare them to be husband and wife.

You may seal your vows with a kiss.

Ordained

A while back I became an ordained minister.  I haven't exactly figured out what made me decide to do that, but I'm glad I did.

Today my next door neighbors (if you follow my posts you've seen me mention Bob and Sharon often) announced they are getting married and want me to officiate.  I'm honored and flattered that they asked me.  This may happen as soon as this Sunday!

I think we want to have a bit of fun with it and am seeking help with custom vows.  I've always wanted to use the line "I promise to love, honor and amuse....." and I think this is the perfect time.

Any other ideas?

DustyLensCap will be present, with camera(s) in hand.  It should be a fun day.
